TLF Tap Collective is excited to present Soundscrape: The Expanded Set! Building off the project that brought the trio together in the Spring of 2025, they have created a performance exploring rhythm, texture, joy, and community. It begins by returning to the roots and where it all began. Soundscrape started as a dance film, then transformed into a live performance, and now takes on a new form for this expanded set. Each piece appreciates the next step in the art and our journey. Elements such as grooves and counter-rhythms are layered to express individuality and cohesion, while improvisation allows space for playfulness and spontaneity. From studio to show, TLF Tap Collective strives to keep performances lighthearted, uplifting, and joyful. Community and collaboration are at the heart of each show, emphasizing how there is a place for everybody to participate in tap! With vibrant music and innovative style there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. The trio invites audiences to come experience the celebration of diverse music and lively dancing! Following the performance, a short musical exploration will be led by the collective. Stick around and feel the rhythms, community, and joy of tap dance for yourself!

Francine, Talia, and Liza met and connected through their love and passion for tap dance and have been working together as a collective since the Spring of 2025. The trio trained together in the Tri-Tone Rhythm Ensemble under the direction of Tasha Lawson and has since remained creative collaborators on individual projects. In April 2025, they participated in Dancers’ Studio West’s (DSW) Mini Research Lab, where they began the development of their piece Soundscrape. The work originated as a dance film and was adapted to be presented on stage. This piece received an Honorable Mention in the WildDogs’ Screendance Film Festival 2025. Soundscrape was presented at the Plaza Theatre in Calgary as part of the weekend-long festival. The trio had the pleasure of being creative residents for DSW’s Quick + Dirty 2025. In the three-month residency, they created a fourteen-minute piece that explored themes of childlike wonder which was presented at cSpace in Calgary. Since then, the trio has presented new work at Dance YYC, and is set to be in residence at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks this summer! They look forward to continuing to create and work together as a tap dance collective.
